OpenAI Eyes For-Profit Model to Fund AGI Mission

OpenAI, originally structured as a non-profit organization, has announced plans to convert its for-profit subsidiary into a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation (PBC).

This shift aims to balance generating profit with the broader mission of advancing artificial general intelligence (AGI) for the benefit of humanity. The non-profit arm will continue to exist but with shares in the new for-profit entity, ensuring alignment with its original mission while allowing for greater capital accumulation to fund its goals.
